Fifth Avenue
penthouse interiors
It began as a pilot. The design team had not presented in three dimensions for sign-off before, and the client was rarely in one place long enough to review anything in person, so one room of the three-storey penthouse, the kitchen, was modelled and shown first to find out whether images would help the decisions get made. The client took to deciding this way, and asked for every room to be done the same. The work went on room by room across all three floors, over five years. The interiors were built around a collection the client already owned, with more bought at auction or commissioned as the work went on. Almost none of it could be taken from a library, so each piece was modelled before a room could be shown. The client could not attend reviews or be on site, so the decisions were made from the images, room by room. They ran ahead of the joinery shop drawings, and by the end the contractor was checking the placement of the tapware against them.

The decisions on the apartment were made from the images, and the designer, who had not worked this way before, enjoyed the process and could not believe how close the finished rooms came to the pictures. The client is so pleased with the place that they are changing their plans to spend more time in it.
