Surrey
country house
A Victorian manor on a plot beside a golf course, facing away from it. When a line of conifers came down, views opened along three consecutive fairways that the house had never been built to take, and that became the brief: what a new house on the plot might be. The proposal accommodates the slope, works alongside the mature Scots pines, and turns to the views while keeping shelter and privacy, in the minimal, modern language the brief asked for.
