Dubai Urban Elements Challenge 1st Place

An international competition focused on how small architectural elements can define a city’s identity, the Dubai Urban Elements Design Challenge called for designs that are both functional and culturally grounded.

Our proposal, A Thread Through Time, wove narrative and material references from local history into a unified system of urban elements that respond to climate, use, and place. The scheme was selected as a winning entry from 550+ global submissions for its coherence, cultural resonance, and adaptable design language.

Michaelis Boyd & Sarah Delaney - North London

The property was brought to market prior to completion and without a defined interior scheme. Kiln worked closely with the client and design team to develop a considered interior vision aligned with the architectural intent, translating it into a cohesive set of marketing images to support the sale of the luxury residence.

Grimshaw Oxagon

As part of the competition-winning team, I worked alongside Grimshaw to support the development of the Oxagon Innovation Campus across multiple phases. Acting as a design partner, I assisted in exploring and refining different architectural expressions derived from the core design concepts, helping to articulate a coherent language across both interior and exterior environments.

The role focused on testing spatial atmosphere, material direction, and experiential clarity, ensuring that evolving design ideas were communicated with consistency and conviction at the campus scale.

KILN

Sunset House

The client had inherited a double plot along with an approved architectural proposal, but was struggling to fully understand the implications of what had been permitted.

Kiln was engaged to interpret, integrate, and ultimately rationalise the scheme. Identifying oversights and testing alternative approaches through a highly iterative 3D design process. Working directly with the client, the project evolved into a comprehensive refinement of both exterior and interior spaces, with visual exploration playing a central role in decision-making.

Multiple material and finish studies allowed ideas to be tested and resolved with clarity before construction.

Studio McW

Selected Projects

Working closely with Studio McW during their formative years, we collaborated with the team to establish a distinct design communication identity before any completed projects were available to photograph. Together we developed a cost-effective workflow to produce highly textured, sketch-based renders that conveyed atmosphere, material intent, and spatial character without the expense of full photoreal production. These images became the backbone of the studio’s early marketing and client presentations, helping to secure commissions while reinforcing a consistent visual language. The process was later translated into internal workflows, enabling the studio to replicate and evolve the style in-house as their portfolio matured.
